Xp: Diskgenius Windows

DiskGenius is a comprehensive tool for data recovery, partition management, and disk utility tasks that remains fully compatible with Windows XP (32-bit and 64-bit)

  1. Insert USB flash drive (≥512MB).
  2. Tools → Create Bootable Disk → Select USB.
  3. Choose "DOS boot disk with DiskGenius" (runs via FreeDOS).
  4. Boot the dead XP machine from this USB.
  • Recover deleted files:
    1. Attach the new drive and the backup drive to the XP machine.
    2. In DiskGenius, click Tools > Restore Disk from Image File.
    3. Select the backup .pmf or .img file.
    4. Choose the target disk (new drive) – warning: all data on target will be overwritten.
    5. After restoration, the new drive is bootable if the original was bootable.
