Using Horizon App on Xbox 360
- Extraction: The user would transfer their Xbox 360 profile and game saves onto a USB drive.
- Injection: Plugging the USB into a PC, Horizon would read the proprietary Xbox file system (FATX).
- Modding: Users could open specific game saves within Horizon. The software contained a library of "Mods" for popular titles. For example, a user could open a Call of Duty save file and instantly unlock all achievements, or open a Forza Motorsport save to gift themselves millions of credits and every car in the game.
- Re-signing: This was the crucial step. The Xbox 360 security system required every file to be digitally "signed" to a specific profile. Horizon allowed users to "Re-hash and Re-sign" the modified files so the console would accept them as legitimate.
