- Through the HP Device Manager: Users can access the utility through the HP Device Manager, which provides a centralized interface to manage HP devices.
- Through the Windows Control Panel: Users can also access the utility through the Windows Control Panel, under the "Devices and Printers" or "Device Manager" section.
- Through the HP Support website: Users can download and install the utility from the HP Support website.
- Card type settings (e.g., SD, MMC, XD, etc.)
- Card reader mode settings (e.g., single card, multi-card, etc.)
- Data transfer settings (e.g., speed, buffering, etc.)

- Open the HP Card Reader Configuration Utility from the Start Menu.
- Go to Power Management → Uncheck "Enable Selective Suspend." Click Apply.
- Go to Protocol → Select "Automatic" (or T=1 if your CAC is newer).
- Go to Auto-Run → Browse to your CAC middleware (e.g., ActivClient or DoD’s PureEdge). Add the executable.
- Click Apply and OK.
