The Hunt for Snow Leopard

  1. Don't connect to the internet immediately. Modern HTTPS certificates have expired on Snow Leopard. Safari will throw errors everywhere.
  2. Install Legacy Certificates: Search for "Snow Leopard SSL fix" to install ISRG Root X1 certificates.
  3. Software Update: You will need to download the "Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1." This is a separate DMG (about 900MB). You must install this to get the Mac App Store working (though the store is mostly dead for old OS versions).
