Step 1: Check Your Current Software Version

  1. Go to SettingsAbout PhoneColorOS Version.
  2. Note your current build number (e.g., CPH1609_11_A.xx).
  3. If you already have Android 8.1 (ColorOS 5.2), you are up to date. No further update exists beyond 8.1 for this model.

Prerequisites:

  1. Download the correct full ROM package for OPPO F3 (match exact model / region). Sources: OPPO support site or reputable APK/firmware repositories. (Do NOT install packages for other models.)
  2. Verify file integrity (SHA256 if provided).
  3. Place the downloaded update.zip (or firmware folder) in the root of internal storage or microSD as instructed with the package.
  4. Reboot to Recovery: Power off → press Volume Down + Power (or consult model-specific key combo).
  5. In Recovery, choose “Local update” or “Install from storage”, select the firmware file, and confirm.
  6. Wait for installation; after completion, reboot system. First boot may take several minutes.
  7. If bootloop occurs, perform a factory reset from recovery (data loss).

  1. Unlock Bootloader: Use Oppo’s official unlock tool (if still available) or exploits.
  2. Install TWRP Recovery: Flash TWRP via Fastboot.
  3. Download a Custom ROM: Visit XDA’s Oppo F3 (CPH1609) forum for a stable Android 8.1 Oreo build.
  4. Flash the ROM: Boot into TWRP, wipe system/data/cache, flash ROM + GApps.
  5. Reboot. You’ll have true Android 8.0 Oreo.

  2. Connect your Oppo F3 to your computer using a USB cable.
  3. Transfer the update package to the root of your device's internal storage.
  4. Go to Settings > Software Update.
  5. Tap on Three dots (⋮) at the top right corner.
  6. Select Local Update.
  7. Choose the update package and tap on Install to install the update.
