The segment opens in the Crystal Caverns, a section that has doomed countless "Gold" attempts before it. In a standard playthrough, the Caverns are a test of patience. In Skacat’s run, they became a test of memory. Skacat utilized a then-unknown technique called "Pixel-Walking," where the character model’s hitbox is manipulated by sliding against the texture walls. This allowed Skacat to bypass the four mandatory mini-bosses, shaving precious seconds off the timer—seconds that were essential to triggering the 18 0195 overflow glitch.
