2.2 Preoperative Evaluation
- Physical exam: Performed standing and supine. Testicular volume measured using Prader orchidometer (accuracy ±1 mL). Hypotrophy defined as ≥2 mL or >20% volume difference vs. contralateral testis.
- Scrotal thermography: Infrared camera (AGA Thermovision 680); temperature gradient >1°C considered pathological.
- Semen analysis: Obtained from 34 Tanner stage IV–V boys (masturbation or nocturnal emission specimen). Parameters: volume, count, motility (WHO criteria 1980).
