• The Triple Boot Floppy Disk: Installation started with three 3.5-inch floppy disks before even reaching the CD-ROM.
• The "Service Pack" Paradox: This was a nightmare. You could not install the standard NT 4.0 Service Pack on TSE. You needed special Terminal Server Edition Service Packs (SPs) , which lagged months behind the main NT releases. This created massive security vulnerabilities.
• Application Compatibility Hell: Here is the single biggest pain point. Standard Windows applications are not designed for multi-user environments. Most apps of the era (Office 97, Netscape Navigator) would write temporary files to C:\WINDOWS\TEMP or write user settings to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
