Problem 2: Cannot Access ZTE F689 Admin After Bridge Mode
Cause: The bridge disables the LAN IP routing.
Fix: The ZTE F689’s management IP (192.168.1.1) is now on a separate network. To get back in, connect a laptop directly to LAN2 or LAN3 (which are not bridged) and manually set your laptop’s IP to 192.168.1.100 (Subnet 255.255.255.0). Then browse to 192.168.1.1. In the quiet hum of a server room,
IP Address Conflict: Ensure your new router’s IP (e.g., 192.168.0.1) is different from the ZTE F689 (192.168.1.1) to avoid network crashes. Navigate to: Network → WAN or Internet →
- Navigate to:
Network→WANorInternet→WAN Connection. - Look for an existing connection (e.g.,
TR069orINTERNET_R_VID_XX).
- The bridge mode disables all other virtual circuits (PVCs).
- Only one bridged interface is active.
- The modem will not function as a router simultaneously (unlike “merit bridge” where routing + bridge coexist for IPTV). On F689, it’s exclusive: either full router mode or pure bridge.
- Follow the steps above to create the Bridge on LAN1.
- Create a second, secondary WAN connection with Mode: Route but bind it only to LAN4 with a different IP range (e.g., 192.168.2.1).
- Use LAN4 for management of the ZTE F689.
- Use LAN1 for your high-performance router.
